(More customer reviews)Never had a problem with taste or smell with this unit.Don't know what the other reviewer's household environment/starting water quality is like, maybe he should run some hydrogen peroxide through it.Mine gets run daily.People that I've had over, and drank mine, said it was some of the best water they've ever tasted.Distilling removes chlorine, arsenic, and fluoride, but not some of the poisonous organic compounds because they will re-condense.Therefore, I also run it through a "commercial" brand carbon filter after distilling and then put it in the fridge.Add 1/4 tsp of Celtic sea or Himalayan pink salt and aluminum free baking soda to re-mineralize in a 2L jug.

LG : LSC27910TT Refrigerator Review

Their customer service was always poor, but I just didn't realize how poor....and I'm not even going to elaborate on the dropped calls, the false promises of return calls, and the unwillingness to resolve the situation, I'll just report on the poor quality of the product...

Bought the LG LSC27910TT in July of 2008.Within 2 mo. the refrigerator was holding 62F on the coldest setting and the freezer was at -20F at the warmest setting.Basically, there was a damper that wasn't sending cold air to the fridge and it was sending the humid air into the freezer, so frost was collecting very quickly in the freezer.It took 4wks to get a newLSC27910TT from LG.They sent me a new one due to the part being backordered....which means what???Yes....this is a common issues with this model.....very common.So...it will take a minimum of 4wks for you to get a replacement fridge if you have this issue.

Now....onto the new one.They sent a new one, not refurbed, but new.And yes....this one is now broken.The ice cube flap on the door (which works via a motor) will not open when ice falls to the door....so it's jammed every time. Sent for replacement parts....turned out not repairable.Meanwhile, talking to LG is like talking to my 8wk old....I actually get more of a response from him.I wanted a new model.No dice!!!They wanted to charge me 1/2 the difference.A good try, but I'm not throwing any more of my money LG's way.

I still don't have the 3rd fridge, but I sure hope it works!

I usually put the water in the microwave and heat it that way, much faster. My problem with this cooler is the slow speed it dispensed water, very slow. The manual or on the box said something like .1 gallons per hour! I could see dying of thirst using this cooler, I live in a desert, can't wait that long for a cup of water.

Primo Water Bottom Loading Water Cooler Review

(More customer reviews)This machine is supposed to work with all standard bottles. The marketing info claims "Accepts all 3- and 5-Gallon bottles." However, despite following the directions and talking with customer service, this unit fails to achieve a tight seal with the pump (which pulls the water up from inside the bottle.) Every time it loses the seal, it stops pumping and beeps incessantly until I open the door, push down on the top of the pump, and shut the door. Every time I draw a glass of water, I have to repeat this process as many as 10 times until the next glassful is pumped!

I have not been this aggravated with a product in a long, long time. And since I've discarded the box, I'm going to have to switch water delivery companies, which is infuriating.

Only problem is that it is hard to tell from the picture which of the four different types of door bins used by my Frigidaire refrigerator this is.This is the UPPER refrigerator door bin, not the Lower one. It cannot be used in several of the positions on the right hand door, nor can it be used in the freezer. This is a design flaw in the refrigerator, and a problem with the documentation of the unit, (the parts section of the user guide does not identify these as different parts) and no fault of the seller.

(More customer reviews)Pros: The full width, but shallow produce/deli drawer is useful and good to have a selectable temp according to what's in it. We set the temp to Deli and keep sliced meats and cheese in it and its perfect for that, wide but shallow so everything is visible. That drawer complements the usual 2 produce drawers which are directly above. Door storage is nicely adjustable. The freezer has an upper drawer that works well for storage.

Cons: The icemaker kicks the ice into the tray with a real racket. Our old Amana made some noise this way, but this one wakes me up some nights. The ice thru the door will splash the drink onto the floor if there is already liquid in the glass (maybe other models do this too). The buttons on the door for controlling the fridge and thru-door functions aren't very good. The buttons are part of a smooth face, but the lighted phrases that indicate the mode are not buttons, the buttons are around the edges and aren't lit. Most folks try to press on the lighted phrases, which is more intuitive. For instance, to get ice thru the door, you have to first look and see if the symbol above "cubed", "crushed", or "water", is lit, and if your desired selection is not lit, you have to press the button marked "ice & water", WHICH IS NOT LIT, until your desired selection is lit. I know how to work it now, but no one new figures it out without help.

I should caveat these cons with the fact that we chose this fridge without trying it out first. We went to a Sears scratch and dent store, where we were able to save $1000 off list, but the models weren't powered up for demo. If I could have tried them powered up and found another model with more intuitive door controls I might have chosen that. But overall it is a very good fridge, especially at the price we paid.

this is a gorgeous fridge.while it was in our home (we had it a week), everyone commented on it.we went with the actual stainless vs. titanium because we were warned the titanuim, when scratched, peels off and is irreparable.

anyway, the fridge never cooled.things froze on the freezer side (but we are not sure of the actual temp...our thermometer doesn't go that low).i noticed funny smells in the fridge and used our instant read thermometer to check the temp (it has a probe that you can stick inside while a digital read stays outside).it was only getting to the high 40's while set at 37 (37 is what it came set at...the instructions say don't mess with the temp for 3 days).we lowered the setting after the 3 day wait, with iffy results, and finally set it to the lowest setting you are able to (32 degrees) and the inside temp ranged from 37 (rarely) to 44 (mostly) even after the door was closed for hours.44 degrees is not cold enough for milk freshness for me, so i called lg.they assured me that their models all have a 10 degree range from the set temp (!!), but gave me a number for local service. when i called, and explained the situation, i asked the service people, "does a 10 degree range sound right??we can still return it, and are not sure if we should even stick with lg as a brand"they said (and remember, this is the LG recommended person!), "whirlpool".we returned the frige (hh gregg has a 10 day return policy, thank goodness)and bought a diff brand.

I won't rehash what has already been said about the large size, good interior lighting etc. It's a great refrigerator, and the Samsung literature claims this model has a new improved ice-maker. This may address previous complaints on various websites about breakage and an overflowing ice tray.

A few items to share:

The stainless steel version this refrigerator does NOT have a magnetic front. The less expensive, stainless steel looking "Platinum" model does have a magnetic front face and sides for sticking notes or pictures that your kids have drawn. No negatives to a magnetic refrigerator. If you need to stick something on your refrigerator, it's there.

Ice-Makers:
The #1 service issue with all refrigerator brands is the ice-maker. A lot going on with an ice-maker.

A power outage does not affect your Samsung keypad dialed-in temperature settings, nor does it reset the refrigerator to the default "Ice-Maker ON" setting. For those that travel for weeks on end and turn off their house water supply when leaving as a precaution, will be glad to know that this refrigerator won't automatically turn the ice-maker back on after a power failure, possibly trashing the ice-maker as it tries to continuously pump water to make ice with the water main turned off.

There were a lot of early complaints about the noisy Samsung ice-maker. I personally have never heard a quiet ice cube maker. By their very nature we're talking about pieces of ice falling into a plastic bin! For those that find it unbearable to hear the sound of ice dropping inside their freezer, here's an option. Take a dishtowel and line the bottom of your freezer's ice cube bucket. Then place the rubbery Samsung plastic grid on top of the towel. This greatly muffles the ice as it falls into the bucket.

As far as the speed of the ice-maker (complaints there as well) after the initial 2 hour pause upon pressing the ice button, we get 8 cubes per 1.2 hours.

The instructions say the green water filter monitor light will change colors when the filter needs to be changed. Typically it will glow Light Pink at 5 months and Red at 6 months when the filter needs to be changed. Having had the refrigerator for only a few weeks I cannot prove it, but I suspect it's nothing more than a 5-6 month timer (like the GE Smart Water sink dispensers have) and in no way does it really monitor the filter performance in any fashion.

To test this, as soon as it lights "pink" I'll push the filter reset button. (There would be no need for a filter reset button if it truly monitored the filter performance.)

If it really monitors anything it will turn pink again very soon after a reset with the old filter attached. I won't hold my breath.

For any company selling expensive water filters ($25-$40 each) the recommended 6 month change-out would be for worst case, large families with high water use. Water filter life is based on gallons used, not by months of use. Filters don't "spoil" or go rancid while filtering potable U.S. tap water.

For couples or those with smaller families, it would be a mistake to take that filter warning light as gospel that they need to buy a new water filter. That would be wasting money. As long as the water flows freely, the filter is not dirty and clogged. A year between filter changes would be perfectly acceptable for a lot of folks.

Because..I had a 25 year old, noisy Sub Zero for which I could no longer find parts. It had to go. Unfortunately, we had remodeled the kitchen around it. So I thought I was stuck with another Sub Zero. Why do I say "stuck"? Aren't Sub Zeros the very best? Well, call me a rube , but to me it was essentially a shinier, shallower, taller, louder version of my cheap Sears fridge in the basement.Not to mention that a new Sub Zero costs over $8000, for Pete's sake!

What to do? Enter the KitchenAid counter depth French door fridge. Fantastic. For about $6000 less Ihave a fridge that takes up less space but has more room inside.(It's magic!) The counter depth fits perfectly in the space where the Sub Zero loomed. The KitchenAid is pretty and quiet and well organized on the inside. Now I have a new, quiet, (did I mention quiet?) fridge with more room inside. It has an interior filtered water dispenser, an excellent deli drawer,(wide and shallow so you can see everything) see -thru veggie bins, and even a neat little scoop in the ice bin. The doors open and close independently of one another. I also like having two smaller doors instead of one heavy door. The water filter is within easy reach in the top of the fridge.
The freezer is also well organized. The ice bin can be rolled out of the way to make use of the space beneath. The freezer also has bins which might , for example, keep melted Popsicle goo from leaking all over the freezer and the floor and the ceiling beneath. Just in case.
AND my cabinet maker is going to put a new shelf in the space that opened up over theKitchenAid. (The Sub Zero was 12" inches taller). I finally have a place to store those huge trays my mother gave me for Christmas. More fridge taking up less space for less money- what's not to like?
